A 32-year-old Langford man has been arrested after police received a report of a man waving a machete at staff and then stealing a nail-pulling tool at a Canadian Tire store on Monday.
The suspect was arrested Thursday morning without incident, West Shore RCMP said.
A photograph of the man was distributed by police, and the RCMP’s crime reduction unit identified the man.
Police went to the Canadian Tire at 855 Langford Parkway shortly before 7:30 p.m. on Monday after a report that a man brandished a machete after being confronted for allegedly shoplifting.
The man ran off before police arrived. He escaped through the receiving door and jumped a fence.
No one was hurt in the incident.
