Halton Regional Police need the public's help identifying a suspect in a significant theft at the Canadian Tire in Burlington.

Police have released a surveillance image of the suspect in the hopes it triggers an arrest in the case.

Police say a man walked into the Canadian Tire at 777 Guelph Line and grabbed a Mastercraft Maximum drill and a DeWalt Circular Saw for a total value of $790.95 and then left the store, "making no attempt to pay for the items" on Jan. 14, Halton police said.

Jalen Samaroo, who said he was in the store when the incident occurred, said some other customers were bewildered by what happened and he spoke with staff afterwards, who were also surprised.

"They said he just bolted," he said.

He is described as being 5-foot-9, 180 pounds, about 38 years off age, with brown hair, brown eyes, wearing dark pants, grey shirt and a black jacket.

Anyone with information can call police at 905-825-4747 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
